7:00 PM Bible study for those of you 35 to

50 years old.  This study is held at the
Greenhouse at 7:00PM.  The group is currently studying Chip
Ingram’s “The Five Lies That Destroy Relationships”.  Those of
you between the age of 35 and 50 come on out and enjoy the
fellowship and enjoy the great study that is being offered by this
group. The Greenhouse is located at 1750 Hecker Pass.  It is on
the left hand side of the Rd a short distance after passing over
Santa Theresa.  There are orange cones at the driveway. If you
have any questions please call Lori at 408-607-3225.

April 9, Friday, is our Frazzled Friday Bible Study and
simple potluck, 6:00 PM.
Please join us at the Greenhouse
for a simple potluck prior to our Bible Study.  We know that many
of you are just getting off work, so come as you are and pick up
some fast food to share if you don’t have time to prepare a dish.
The Potluck starts at 6:00 PM and the Bible study starts at around
7:15 PM.  We are currently studying Proverbs and will most likely
finish it off this evening.   The Greenhouse is located at 1750
Hecker Pass.  It is on the left hand side of the Rd a short distance
after passing over Santa Theresa.  There are orange cones at the
driveway.  If you have any questions, please call Nancy at 408-
848-1666.

April 10th, Saturday, 10:30 AM, Bowling at the Morgan
Hill Bowl.
Please come join us for a fun couple of hours of
bowling.  We have a great time together.  Many of us are still
trying to break 100!! Gene Cruz broke 100 last month and ended
up beating Dennis who has carried the highest score.  Whatever
the score ends up being we sure have lots of laughs.  Some of us
go out to lunch after.  If you have any questions please call Dennis
at 408-210-4629.

April 11th, 18th,25th, Sunday morning Bible study, 8:45
AM at the Greenhouse.
 We are currently studying the
Parables and how they apply to our life today.  We have hot coffee
and usually a snack of some sort for you.  Please join us this
Sunday.  The study is over by around 10:15, leaving you plenty of
time to attend Church services at the Church of your choice.  If
you have any questions, please call Marianne at 408-840-5678.
April 11th, 18th, 25th, Sunday Lunch at the Westside Grill.  Please
join us for lunch after Church.  We meet at the Westside Grill
around 12:30 and enjoy good food and great conversation.  Please
join us.

April 16th, 23rd, 30th Friday, is our Frazzled Friday
Bible Study and simple potluck, 6:00 PM.
 Please join us at
the Greenhouse for a simple potluck prior to our Bible Study.  We
know that many of you are just getting off work, so come as you
are and pick up some fast food to share if you don’t have time to
prepare a dish.   The Potluck starts at 6:00 PM and the Bible study
starts at around 7:15 PM.  We are starting a new study on the book
of Ecclesiastes.  Please come join us as we explore this book in the
Bible.  Everyone is enjoying the Frazzled Friday Bible study’s as
we go through the Scriptures together and discuss each one of
them.  We have learned that even though many of us have read
the Bible through, we continue to find new things we may have
overlooked before, or we find they have more meaning  at this
time because of where in life we may be at the moment.   Please
join this great group of people.  The Greenhouse is located at 1750
Hecker Pass.  It is on the left hand side of the Rd a short distance
after passing over Santa Theresa.  There are orange cones at the
driveway.  If you have any questions, please call Nancy at 408-
848-1666.

April, 17th, Saturday, Dinner and a movie out.  It is too
early to know what is playing, therefore as this date gets closer I
will be sending out all the information on this evening.  Mark the
date on your calendar and watch for an e-mail with the movie we
will be going to see.

April 24th, Saturday, Bike Ride.  Mark the date on your
calendar.  We do not have the trail decided on at the time of
writing this newsletter.  As the date gets closer I will be sending
out an e-mail with all the details.  Be sure to hold the date.  The
March bike ride was awesome.

April 24th, Saturday, Movie and pizza night at the
Greenhouse.
This is a kick back evening that many people
enjoy.  We serve up Pizza, popcorn and drinks on our movie
nights.  The evening starts at 6:00 PM with Pizza.  The cost of the
movie, pizza, popcorn, and drinks is $4.00 per person.  The $4.00
helps to cover our costs for the evening.  You certainly cannot beat
the price for dinner and a movie.  Come join us for a relaxing
evening after a day of bike riding.  The name of the movie being
shown will be announced in an e-mail before the movie date
arrives.  I heard Dennis made some awesome popcorn with his
new popcorn machine.

Hike Summary:
Location: Chapparal Ranger Station (Pinnacles National
Monument)

Saturday April 10th
Start Time: 9:00 a.m.
Hike Duration: 4 to 6 hours

Contact person Dan Rankin (408) 390-8255                       (phones
do now work there except at the very top) Car pools from FCC
parking lot at 7AM will get there in plenty of time.

Pace: Moderate (2.5 to 3 mph)
Total Distance: ~10 miles
Total Elevation Gain: ~2,000 feet
Difficulty: Challenging for Distance, Moderately Challenging for
Elevation Gain

NOTE: The Talus cave that we'll be going through will be dark and
tightly enclosed in some areas. Also, the route along the High Peaks
Trail will require climbing very steeply inclined stairs with narrow toe-
holes and metal hand railing. Members who are either claustrophobic (i.
e. uncomfortable being in narrow spaces) OR who are uncomfortable
with being in high places should consider attending another hike event.

WHAT TO BRING: Sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, wind & rain gear,
lunch, hat, gloves, 4 or more liters of water, long pants (for knee protection
through the caves) and long sleeve shirt. Flashlights or headlamp are
required in the caves. A lunch and snacks for on the trail, cameras and
Binoculars (there are condors there)

HOW TO ATTEND: You must have appropriate hiking experience to
qualify for attendance. Those who do NOT have appropriate hiking
experience should consider attending another event.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THIS HIKE:
Hike will commence at approximately 15 minutes after the posted start
time. Hike will average speed between 2.5 to 3.0 mph.

NOTE: THIS WILL BE A TEAM HIKING EFFORT WHICH MEANS WE
WILL STAY TOGETHER AS A GROUP. THIS WILL NOT BE A SPEED
HIKE AS THE PURPOSE FOR DOING THIS IS TO EXPLORE THE
RUGGED WILDERNESS AREAS OF THE PINNACLES NATIONAL
MONUMENT.

DIRECTIONS:

We will meet at the Chaparral Ranger Station on the west side of the
Pinnacles National Monument.

From the Monterey & San Francisco Bay Area:
Take Hwy 101 south to the town of Soledad, and then take Hwy 146 east.
Take care as you're driving through the town of Soledad; the highway takes
a few turns so watch your signs carefully. Follow Hwy 146 for 14 miles into
Pinnacles National Monument. Park your vehicle in the open lot at the
Chaparral Ranger Station and remember to pay your day use fee ($5/day
per vehicle).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Fit & well-conditioned hikers who can
handle a 10 mile / 2,000 feet cumulative elevation gain hike
over steep/rough terrain. MUST be able to successfully
negotiate crawling / spelunking through a darkened Talus cave,
and climbing up & over very steeply inclined stairs with narrow
toe-holes and metal hand railing as we traverse the High Peaks.
THIS WILL BE AN INTERMEDIATE, MODERATELY
STRENUOUS HIKE due to combined distance and elevation
gain. Trail condition is excellent and well maintained in most
locations throughout the park. Trail route will take us through
a darkened Talus cave which will require the use of a headlamp
or flashlight to navigate through. Trail will also encompass a
hike through the Pinnacles rock formations that are both steep
& rugged.
RESPONSIBILITY:

Please be aware that we expect you to take responsibility for your safety
while we are out on the trails. This means being prepared with adequate
hiking gear and making sure the difficulty level of the event IS NOT beyond
the limits of your health & conditioning. We understand that your "Yes"
RSVP to this event means you accept this.
